Material Information

Which Golf Impact Screen is Right for Me?

Choosing the best golf impact screen depends on several key factors. Check out our screen comparison guide to find the perfect match for your needs.

Best Impact Screen for HD/4K UHD Projection

All of our golf impact screen materials support HD and 4K UHD projection. However, your projector must be capable of displaying native 4K/HD resolution. For the sharpest image quality, Premium impact screens have minimal texture, delivering the best high-definition and 4K experience.

Compare golf screens to find the best option for your setup.

Can Impact Screens Be Used for Rear Projection?

No, all Carl’s Place golf impact screens are designed for front projection only.

Remnant & Clearance Items

What is a Remnant or Clearance Item?

Carl’s Place Remnant and Clearance stock includes items that are still useful but cannot be sold as new due to minor defects such as:

  • Slight blemishes or minor imperfections
  • Stubborn folds or slight discoloration
  • Uncommon sizes or mismatched grommets
  • Open-box returns

Clearance items are pre-packaged for shipping, and while we cannot specify the exact defect, all items will have visible flaws. However, we do not sell anything in poor condition.

What If I Don’t Like It?

Clearance items are deeply discounted, making them an excellent value. However, if visible defects will bother you, consider purchasing a brand-new, flawless screen.

  • Remnant and Clearance items are sold as-is
  • They are non-returnable and non-customizable
  • All sales are final
  • Limited stock – available while supplies last

Shop remnant and clearance deals before they’re gone.

Care & Use Information

How Long Will My Impact Screen Last?

Our impact screens are heavy-duty, tested to withstand thousands of strikes at speeds up to 250 mph. However, like any material, wear and tear will occur over time.

  • Commercial use, where screens are hit constantly throughout the day, may reduce lifespan faster.
  • Home use with lower swing speeds will extend durability.

How Far Should I Stand from the Screen?

For safety, we recommend standing at least 10 to 12 feet from the screen.

How to Reduce Bounce-Back

Some level of bounce-back is expected in indoor golf setups. To minimize it:

  • Ensure the screen is properly installed with some give.
  • Adjust the distance you stand from the screen.
  • Use softer balls or a different club if necessary.

Learn more in our impact screen bounce-back troubleshooting guide.

Will My Screen Arrive Wrinkled?

If your screen ships folded, temporary fold marks may appear. Over time, gravity and the screen’s weight will naturally relax the wrinkles. This process may take a few days to weeks.

Can I Iron or Steam My Impact Screen?

  • Do not iron your golf screen – high heat can cause damage.
  • Use a consumer-grade steamer with distilled water to remove wrinkles faster.
  • Best practice is to mount your screen with proper tension and allow it to settle over time.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Use

Carl’s Place golf impact screens are designed for indoor use only.

How Do I Clean My Screen?

Visit our care guide for full cleaning instructions.

Proper Screen Storage

  • Always store your screen clean and dry to prevent mold or mildew.
  • If folding, do so loosely to avoid long-term creases.

Installation Guidelines

Which Side of the Screen Faces the Golfer?

The front side of the screen has the Carl’s Place logo at the bottom left corner when installed.

  • Standard Impact Screen – Raised open weave (herringbone pattern) faces the audience.
  • Preferred Impact Screen – Raised tight-knit side (herringbone pattern) faces the audience.
  • Premium Impact Screen – Very straight rows on the front; tightly woven squiggle on the back.

Best Fasteners for Mounting

For finished edge screens, use 6-inch or 9-inch ball bungees.

  • Do not bolt the screen directly—this prevents movement and increases ricochet risk.
  • Allow the screen to have some give to absorb impact properly.

How to Install Your Impact Screen

For the easiest setup, choose one of our Golf Simulator Enclosure Kits – we design everything for you.

For DIY setups, follow the two-inch guideline:

  • The frame should be no more than two inches wider than the screen.
  • The screen should be no more than two inches smaller than the frame.

This ensures a flat projection surface while allowing movement for impact absorption.

Mounting Distance from Walls & Support Poles

Mount your impact screen at least 12 to 16 inches from walls or support poles to:

  • Prevent ricochet
  • Allow natural movement upon impact
  • Improve safety

If you have a powerful swing, consider increasing this distance.
